About the Creator
Hello! I am a 12 year old student (at the time this webpage was first made: 2016) who has a great interest in astronomy (even if I probably can't get to NASA in the future).
Where do I come from?
I come from Malaysia. My ancestors originate in China. When I was 2 years old, I moved to India for 2 and a half years and attended an American school. At age 5, I moved to the United States of America. This is where I learned to speak, read and write English fluently (some people mistook me for being American!). At age 10, I moved back to Malaysia, and I'm still here today. In the future, I hope to live in Canada or in the USA again.
What am I like?
I like to consider myself as an optimist and an ambiverted person (60% extrovert, 40% introvert). I can be a bit childish at times (which is not to be confused with being immature and narcissistic), but many people tell me I'm mature for my age (really? I still have so much more to learn!). I'm not entirely sure about that. I'm good at drawing and (of course) science. You may find me watching YouTube, making a slideshow on Google Slides or reading a book (PERCY JACKSON AND WARRIORS FOR THE WIN).
Why am I interested in astronomy?
I'm sorry to say that I don't have much interest in the mechanics of satellites and spaceships and space telescopes, I'm more into planets and stars. As for what got my interest, that comes from an encyclopedia I "read" once. This was the Junior Encyclopedia from the Miles Kelly Publishing Ltd. It's really old (Pluto was still a full-fledged planet at the time!), and it was FULL of pictures. The first section happened to be on space, and the detailed illustrations caught my attention. I was drawn to the colours of the planets. Jupiter's storms and stripes, Saturn's rings, Earth's clouds, Mars's enormous Valles Marineris that used to scare me a bit. I got intrigued. My interest was gradual that grew faster and faster, especially in the USA when I had access to so many space books in libraries. When I learned about the Internet (It took me years to confidently use it), I watched video after video on space. I even was lucky enough to visit NASA! That's how my interest in space comes from.
What other creations do I have?
When I was really young, I made "books" by folding and stapling papers together and writing and drawing on each page. Years later, I made many presentations about space on Google Slides; showing size comparisons, facts and even one about the entire solar system and another about stars, nebulae and galaxies! (both written in a "book" format) I think that this webpage is probably the best creation I've ever made.
What other interests do I have?
Space is the most long-lived interest that I currently have. I also have an interest in planet Earth, and was very interested in Pangaea's 240 million year break up for a period of time. For a while, I studied the 10 main types of clouds and what they mean; like the fact that cumulonimbus is responsible for all weather-related natural disasters, altostratus is a warning for rain, fog is really stratus that's on the ground and that cirrus clouds can either mean fair weather or later rain! I also enjoy drawing (but not-so-much in colouring at times), even though I draw few pictures. Despite never playing the video game, Undertale (by Toby Fox) has also been something I have an interest in. I love (not LOVE) the game's deep meanings and secrets. However, I can't say the same for the fandom of Undertale...
Do I want to be an astronaut in the future?
No thanks. I want to be an astronomer, but not an astronaut. As awesome as it seems, it's too daunting for me. I'm happy studying the Universe on this wet ball of rock and metal.
Will this webpage be constantly updated?
I will do my best to update this webpage whenever I can and add a note of when it was last updated, so don't worry! Let's hope that homework won't get in the way of me keeping this webpage up-to-date (it probably will)!
What's the most recent update(s) I've made?
I've added perihelions and aphelions to the planets. Sorry for the missing information on Ceres and Makemake! I also added two more facts about the fifth Jovian planet, removed the survey on the quiz page and changed a few links on the answers to the questions and found out the volume of it (I didn't know how to calculate the volume of a planet for a while).
I've changed the image of Venus to a natural colour image, the one before had a slightly higher contrast.
